Lifespan???

hi,

i have a Giant Indian mantis and i'm just wondering how long it will live. It is about 4th-5th instar and it molted about 3 days ago into either 4th-5th instar. If u can't answer that, how long does it live after it reaches adulthood? Last question, how big is it going to grow?

Can reach 10cm (female) and I think they will live around 5 to 7 months when reaching adult hood.

Thanks, exotic-pets.co.uk is where i got the mantis. I need to check if it is male or female. It is about 3cm and it is about a 4th-5th instar, i can't understand how it can grow so much in so little time....

Some mantids become twice their size on their last moult

yeah, i realised that. my mantis doubled in size in it's last moult and i was amazed since my lizards don't do that!

My adult female lives for about 6 months and deposited 7 ootheca, while male only live for about 4 months. I feed them lot of food and kept them warm, probably wear them out sooner in the process.

Oh yeah, if you want them to live longer, don't feed them that often and don't keep them too warm. Hehe, slower metabolism!
