one of my new lineolas appears to have had a bad molt (it just arrived from shipping yesterday). I'm a bit bummed, though I know this happens. It was fine last night, but appears to have tried to molt but it didn't turn upside down (or it fell). It is half way out and laying on the bottom. This happened to be one that I put in by itself, so no other nymphs to bother it. It is L1/L2. it is still barely alive-should I just leave it be in case it somehow makes it? How long does a molt at this stage normally last? It has been at least 6 hours since I woke up.

The other 4 (different container) all appear fine. I have ficus stems leaves, a tiny bit of coconut fiber and a strip of paper towel up the side. I've misted-not wet, but a bit of moisture.

ok, I somewhat answered my own question because one of the others just molted in the time since the last post. It fast! I assume the first one is a goner. I think I'll pop it in the freezer just in case. It only made it halfway. This one that molted did fine hanging from the paper towel i have on the side. I assume the others will likely molt soon too.

very very cool. My daughter got to see the whole molt.

Sorry about your lineola. If it can make it through another molt, it can possibly repair itself. Give it a few days to adjust to it's condition and harden up. Then make your decision. I have 2 sub adult female chinese that had a problem with their last molt. I didn't think they'd make it. After a couple days, they were able to adjust a bit. They are being hand fed as their legs are quite twisted. But they are healthy and happy. Hopefully another molt will take care of the problem. Good luck

those sub adult females wont have those problems fixed when their adults maybe if they were younger then probably but they will prob have to live like that the rest of their adulthood!

Thanks all for the replies. The other 4 molted successfully and are munching on ff. I took one out today and it grabbed a ff while on my hand...it wouldn't go back into its enclosure--it appearently thought rides and food were nice.

I am amazed at the personalities of these little ones--i mean these guys are tiny! yet all the species are so distinct with the way they interact and move.
