I received in the mail last week a few A. Formosanas in great shape!!! Well, upon closer inspection of them under my camera lens I found that when one of them molted enroute, he must have molted too close to the bottom of the cup and his thorax is slightly curved making him a little hunchback. This is a first, I am hoping he will be able to overcome this with his next molt. The only problem he has is his head hangs really low and close to the floor when he walks. No, problems eating! ;)

I've had that a time or two. Generally they do ok.

Thankfully, the only things that have gone wrong for me while raising mantids have been very minor in nature. I only had a mantid lose a leg and had another have his leg get broken. I am dreading the day that I have a mis-molt or a sick mantis. The mantis that lost his leg had the problem corrected in two molts, so I am sure yours will be fine within a few molts as well. Good luck with him!
