Some weeks ago, I was serendipitously visited by a Phidippus audax jumping spider.
She was an early stage spider - clearly in need of a good feed. The story is here: http://mantidforum.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=34211&hl=audax
I christened her "Thumper." Off she went into the house, never to be seen again. I thought.
Well, this evening, in the exact spot where she was given a mini cricket several weeks ago, there was Thumper! Thinner and obviously
waiting for another pro-offered dinner.
So I rushed and got a tiny cricket held in a small set of tweezers. Inching it toward her, she jumped on the crix and dug right in.
I am astonished by the intelligence of these tiny creatures. So here is a quick snapshot [ Canon 50D; Canon 100mm f/2.8 macro; Canon 580EX ll flash with gary fong diffuser; hand held ]
