I've become extremely addicted to keeping mantids. (Just as everyone said!) Right now I have Egyptians and Chinese, so now I want to buy a slightly more exotic-looking mantis. I would prefer a mantis that is under $20 (not including shipping, of course), and L2 or above. I live in Michigan, so a species that can handle slightly cooler temps would be nice, but not necessary. Thank you in advance!

If I were you, I'd go for Ghosts next. They are SO COOL! And very easy to care for! (If I remember right, you can co-habitate them until they get bigger, too! ...though, I keep mine all separate because I am an over-protective mother!) ;)

Well it sounds like a Ghost is the way to go! I was leaning towards them, anyway. ^^

Deby,

I'm telling you, you wont go wrong with ghosts. they are soo cool.

I have 10 of them so far, and plan to get a few more.

I'm willing to part with upto 4 (AKA: buy 3 get 1 free) of my freshly L2s as again, I'm going to get some more shortly.

I'll give you a good, fair price. PM me if interested.

note: due to our overnight temps in both locations, it would be best if overnight shipping is used.

no matter what you do, I wish you the best of luck.

Harry

I'd reccomend joeho because he gave me 2 L4 sexed pairs for the price of one, and it was REALLY cheap. They came from CA to FL within two days, all healthy. They stuffed themselves, and now they've all officially molted to L5 as of now! REALLY cool species. Just make sure you have flies and blue bottes/green bottles on hand before.

I'm currently selling...

FOR SALE: Gambian Spotted-Eye Flower Mantis Nymphs & Ooths!

...and Ghost nymphs and ooths, though I haven't posted yet.

Ghost nymphs: $5 each, 6 for $25, 10 for $40 (currently L1, soon to be L2)

Ghost ooths: $20 each (hatching 10-15 nymphs)

Check out the Gambian post for sure. THE EASIEST EXOTIC SPECIES TO KEEP! And they're communal so you can keep them all together which is sweet. Makes feeding and misting even easier. ;)

Oh wow! Those Gambien Spotted-Eye Flower mantids are SO pretty! I'm really considering those...

Congratulations, Deby! I also think that it's clever of you to come up with Egyptian names for yr Egyptian mantids, like Cleopatra and Key Lime Pie.

@Myrmecologist

They're all slightly different sizes and their antennae are a little different. I also separated some of them and labeled their deli cups. But I got all my nymphs and my adult mio from Jesskb. He lives in the same city as me. Great guy. :) He might still be giving the mios away.

@PhilinYuma

Thanks! :) I thought Key Lime Pie was from the Florida Keys. But I heard that from Dexter (the show), so that isn't a very reliable source. :lol:

Update:

Cocoa died. ): I did notice that he/she was much smaller than all the others.
