majuscla 1st flight

Our adult female majuscula just flew half way across the room. My novice mind thought that only males flew. I think my chin hit the floor. Now she's chowin on a big ole cricket. Next part of this post is it looks like one of her eyes is big and black ...any suggestions? Damage ?

Wow thats crazy! Ive never had my females fly, ever. More like glide, while jumping to something, but never fly across the room. Interesting! I wonder if its a species thing?

Ive had that happen to my mantids as well -- the black eyes. I believe its bruising. She may have hit her eyes too hard on something.
