Hes bitten off most of his antennae, and when he walks, he always keeps a foot off the ground. Im kind of worried....

I would like to first ask, how old is your specimen? This could be due to old age. Did you observe your mantis consuming it's own antennae as I would have a hard time accepting a mantis would do this. Sometimes broken antennae are just a case of aging as the animal becomes more fragile/frail. As for the "tip-toeing", I have a few Sphdromantis viridis that occasionally walk with one foot off the ground, eventually setting it down later. I certainly wouldn't worry about that.

Tried puting food to its mouth. It bites, swallows, then strikes at it but doesn't want to grab it. I think its molting, but it been almost a week know.

The antennae biting is disturbing. I like to use royal jelly as an occasional treat and when an insect is under the weather.

If he is molting just leave him hanging.

Hes not in the molting position though, and that makes me worried, he also walks weird, with a foot not toughing the surface at all times

Lol ya hes fine now. idk y he was acting like that before. Hes chowin down on a cricket as we speak ;)

At least he is eating a cricket and not his antennae. What a weirdo.

I hope the autophagia was just one of those strange preteen phases and that it doesn't become the "in thing" for young mantids these days.
