Hi

Yes, I experienced problems because sometimes females of different species are afraid of bigger males and will run away. Sorry. But sometimes it will still work.

regards

I've had cases like this once in a while. Usually, they mate just fine, but if the female wanted to make a meal out of her partner, it would be a lot easier for her to get him because he's bigger.

Alright cool. I'll mate them in a few weeks, the male was found in the wild so i'm sure hes ready to mate but the females are only a week old, i think i'll try mating them next week and a half

That is normal. Males are often longer. Should be no issues.

Ah dang, i thought i had a freak mantis that was abnormally huge. I guess the whole male being way smaller than the females doesn't apply to all mantids.

The males abdomen is very flexible. Even if he is longer than her, he can still maneuver his abdomen to connect with her. I have had this issue quite a few times in the past, without any problems. Good luck! :)

No it doesn't. However, males are slimmer and more petite. This makes them light so they can fly. Of course some species do have a large size difference such as orchids.
