Okay so this is kinda odd. I have one adult pair of Mantis religiosa and Iris oratoria. And for both pairs, the adult male is larger than the female. I never thought I'd see it with Mantis religiosa, but I was wondering what precautions I should take before attempting to breed them. Should I just stuff both of them so the male doesn't get any weird ideas, or should I do something else?

yeah, I have had a male M.religiosa larger than my female M.religiosa.

The female was still way bulkier though.

In my case, I didn't see it as any factor that should make me do something otherwise than what I always do.

To me, just introducing the male as you always would worked just fine, although precautions are always a good thing.

The male I had might have been larger than my female but still had the temperament of any regular-sized male.

They mated just fine. :)

Perfectly normal. Many males are longer. Nothing you need to do because like I said that is normal.

Just have them mate as you normally would. The size difference should not be a problem. The males are very flexible. ;)

Thanks to everyone for the advice. I'll just let them handle their business as usual. I guess I have nothing to worry about. :D But while we're on it, my Mantis religiosa female that was mated last friday has yet to produce an ooth. She's really big and has been eating a lot. When should I expect an ooth?

When they mate has nothing to do when they make an ooth. When she is ready she will. There is no way to predict exactly when.

if the male is 3.5 cm and the female is 4 cm then would that still be a pliable mating pair or vice versa if the male was 4 cm and female 3.5 cm?
