I suppose I never really thought about mantids as a prey species before. I took this photograph in Thailand at Pang Sida National Park, Elevation around 400 meters.

It happens. I've seen it too. My revenge is that when the siblings of the mantid get large enough, they get to feed on those "wolf" spiders.

I love mantids , don't get me wrong, but in nature, I'm not going to find injustice out of a spider eating mantis
