I went on vacation in Europe for 10 days and found this ooth in Italy near Florence.

My guess is a Mediterranean mantis?

Did you bring it home with you. I would have. They would never find it going through customs. Imagine being an ooth "mule".

I was GOING to.

But my teachers know I'm a bug nut and one of them was watching while I was taking pictures...

Customs was interesting.

They confiscated the 3 French soft drinks and the balsamic vinegar I had, but somehow missed the Southern France palm plant seeds I had right next to them. :p

Lol... darn teachers and silly customs officers! :p

Must've been pretty big too!

I should've grabbed it and told me teacher it was a rock. lol

And customs... Well, enough's been said about them.

just tell customs "it is chewing gum from the holy land."

Seriously, i learned in catholic prep school that the israelites most likely survived the 40 years in the desert by eating mantid oothecae.
