Mantids in Italy

Any one know what mantids i am likly to find in Italy(well sicily to be precise)???????????????????????, today at my school i hav been informed that in my we can go on a trip to either paris, south-france or scilily, i chose sicilt because i hav always wanted to see Mt Etna and i know that there are mantids there but i just dont know what ones <_<

Members on this forum that are from Italy have posted catching Iris oratoria and Mantis religiosa.

I think also there are some of the Empusa species in Italy... don't know if they're in Sicily though.

Yep, Empusa were on the link that pelle posted, sicily and italy are very close together so i would think so

I know that Sicily is close to Italy.. but as Sicily is an island there is no guarantee that you will find them there, that was my objection in that case But the scenery on Sicily just screams Empusa Dry, hot and bushy
