Mantis life span

At the AZ Insect festival, I met a guy with an S. limbata female who he claimed was 3 years old. Is that possible?

I've never heard a legitimate 2 year mantid. Some along the way have come close!

Longest I've heard of is around 19-20 months old. I don't see how it would be possible to get one to make it 2 years, let along 3 years...
