My 1st mantis i have ever had mismolted last night and it was her molt to become an adult mantis. i at least got to see her wings spread out and her adult body. but she must have had a lot of trouble molting cuz she cant stand on her own and her wings wont close. when i came into the room she was hanging by her front claws from the old skin, i guess she couldnt get her claws out. she kept trying but as hard as she could she couldnt get them out so eventually i helped her out of it. but here legs were to messed up from the molt, im not sure why cuz all her previous molts went smoothly. now she is just proped up by sticks just sitting in the same spot. i know shes not gunna make it but i dont have the heart to kill her. i just cant do it... im so sad. why did she have to mess up on her final molt  . i was gunna move her into her adult cage i got for her and make it all nice for her but now oll never know. ill miss u always... :(

RIP

urs walks tho so thats good :) . but mine cant walk and she hasnt tried yet its been a day and she is still alive but never moves. i had to move her and prop her up with sticks :( i hope she recovers but i doubt it very much  .

If she can't move around on her own she won't be able to catch her food, but you could hand feed her. I have a crippled adult too. She molted perfectly, but I guess she fell right after she molted and it basically ruined her legs. I've been keeping her in a mesh cylinder sort of enclosure, tipped onto it's side, and she pulls herself around mainly by her claws because her legs are for the most part useless. :( But she has a healthy appetite. So I've decided to keep her, as long as she's got the will to live ya know?

You could try giving her some honey and water for now. Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

mantis can live only with honey and water???

I have this lil dude tin... a sp lineola and he also has a problem in the 4rd molt... but well, he was really really bad and things are getting better... i also handfeed him but didnt know i could just feed him honey and water...

you should try feeding her until she wants... then it wasnt in your hands.

good luck!

she not taking the honey :( . ill try again tomorrow.
My little Greenie had what appeared to be a very bad molt 3 days ago. She wasn't using 2 of her legs or one front claw. She was lying on the bottom of the enclosure and I was sure she had passed away. She was totally motionless in my hand and I put her in a white dishpan to observe her for a few minutes. She perked up after a bit but still couldn't get around. I was so sad. She didn't eat for 2 days but I managed to help her hang from the top of the enclosure. I was most concerned about her front claw because she didn't seem like she could catch food.

I went to a midnight movie last night and when I got back, she was very perky. Her claw is fine. Her 2 legs are still not well, but she is getting around and has eaten 2 crickets this morning. Your mantis may show improvement...don't give up yet.
