Mantis ootheca?

I found this on an oak log in Central NC about a month ago. It's the size of the last section of your pinkie finger. I tried to use the mantis ootheca ID link but it didn't work. I have it sitting on an outdoor window shelf at the moment.

Yeah, it probably is a Carolina mantis ooth. I cannot see any signs that it has hatched so you might get some babies from it.

 
Maybe it is a Stagmomantis North Carolina ooth... hehe yeah... I went there..
I just noticed that! Funny sense of humor, never even thought of North or South Carolina. :clown: Perhaps it is the super rare West Carolina mantis? :stuart:

 
Yeah.. I thought.. maybe only funny in my mind... that happens often to me . hehe
