I've been noticing that one of my male H. Majuscula keeps vomiting and wiping it on the walls and top of his enclosure. The vomit is dark brown and it stinks. He wasn't eating too much at first, but seems to be eating fine now. Despite this I still find vomit in his enclosure. Is he going to be ok? Is there anything I can do?

Give him some water, and try a different source of food for a little bit. That worked for my spiny flower mantis.

Most recently I have been feeding him crix. None of my other mantids are doing this. I am waiting on my roach colony to grow, but I'm going to switch him to roaches asap. I have been giving him plenty of water and he seems parched after all the puking. Thanks for the advise everyone.

Don't feed him at all for a couple of days, but do make sure that he gets plenty of water and ventilation. I would keep him in something that is easy to clean until he improves.

Mantids can die from that.

What kind of enclosure is he in? Is it easy to sterilize?

Does the vomit smell anything like the crickets did?

How were the crickets doing? Did they have any smell or darkened marks?

Stinky vomit brings back awful memories for me. :(

This times ten.You want to ideally fast him until he stops vomiting. Give water daily (I like to give it twice once in the morning and at night). It will help him vomit anything else out that needs to come up and keep him hydrated. When you do finally feed give him something start very small at first to see how he handles it. Assuming he has still been passing frass in the meantime, he has a good chance at recovery, in my opinion.

I fed him crix for the first part of his life then switched to roaches and recently switched back to crix. I feed all my feeders potato. Roaches get fed bread and koi fish food pellets. I get my roaches with that food already with them. Roaches are red runners. Crix are from petco. I'll try the fasting thing till he stops. Thanks everyone.

I'm not a fan of feeding my feeders potato. It molds so much faster than lettuce or celery. My crix are on a diet of stale cereal, dog food, and whatever veggie is going bad at the time. Right now thats celery.

It's not only the fact that potatoe molds, other than water content, it hardly has any nutritional value at all. I wouldn't consider potatoes to be a nutritious gut loader at all personally.
