I got up this morning and found my Blue Flash sitting on the floor in the corner of his cage. When I reached in to pick him up to check him out he scurried up the side of the cage in what seemed to be a normal manner.Ten minutes later he had returned to the spot on the floor.I'm new to mantids so I have never seen them do any thing but perch or hang and was wondering if this is normal. And yes he has been eating.

Thanks

Yupp it can be a little unnerving when they keep sitting on the floor but as long as they eat fine and retain their typical posture theres no need to worry. My two adult females keep to the floor more than half the time; when they were nymphs I never saw them there. They aren't overfed and they move just fine, so I guess it can be considered normal

Maybe it's cooler down there???
