mating religiosa should male apriach fromside

Tonite I am trying to mate two wild caught. Mantissa the male approaches slowly but then ends up parallel flicking it abdomen outwards with wings flared..normal?

It is very common for the male to land on the female sideways or even backwards. He should turn around the proper way eventually. Some young eager males just don't seem to get it right. If that happens just keep trying.
