I don't think he's old enough yet. Only 12 days from adult. I take them out each day to see if he's ready, because three other forum members want him to mate their females, time is of the essence. He is interested, but not so much yet. He just stares at her, paralyzed.Give her a cricket or other large prey. Put him on your hand and hold his head up to her rear. You will often see mate antennae react to pheromones. Place him directly behind her and he should start stalking her. If he wanders just keep putting him behind her. If he's not interested try another day.
Ah, got ya. Most species' males are ready to go by 2 weeks so I guess any day now.I don't think he's old enough yet. Only 12 days from adult.
I think it has to be soon, because he's clearly attracted to her. Doesn't stop looking at her and moving his antennae when she's in his cage. Just hasn't don't the deed yet.Ah, got ya. Most species' males are ready to go by 2 weeks so I guess any day now.
If he's the only male you've got be extra careful. I'm just saying......she's in his cage.
Oh yeah, three people are relying on this male. I don't leave her in there unless I'm watching. If he's the only male you've got be extra careful. I'm just saying...
I try both ways, like you can see in the photo.Do you absolutely have to have them caged?
I usually have mating pairs loose in a small room so that the male has a better chance of escaping if she decides to turn on him.
If he is ready, putting her rear up to his face will probably do the trick, like Precarious stated. That method seems to be the quickest way that has worked for me.
He will come around soon. I guess he is just doing "the freeze", it can be frustrating when you don't have alot of time, or males. lolI try both ways, like you can see in the photo.
