Meal worm questions

I have a couple of questions about the meal worm feeder.

1. Does this feeder only work for hand feeding? I feel like they’re too slow for them to be noticed in an enclosure. Especially considering they’re 70% of the time on the lid.
 

2. are they easy to breed?

I use them when I am low on other feeders. sometimes u have to wiggle them. they are easy to raise.But time consuming.

For smaller mantids you have to hand feed, but larger mantids will hunt for themselves if there's nothing on the cage floor.

They are easy to breed but take forever to get big enough to feed.
