A mealworm just gave one of my nymphs a little nip on the arm.. Nothing major but there was a little blood from the mantis.. Will she be okay?
I cut the heads off the worms before I hand them to my mantis. Probably not necessary but I do it anyway...A mealworm just gave one of my nymphs a little nip on the arm.. Nothing major but there was a little blood from the mantis.. Will she be okay?

Whenever I get crickets I pop off their heads and hand feed them to the mantids. A few years ago when I was keeping creos a cricket ate my only male.I cut the heads off the worms before I hand them to my mantis. Probably not necessary but I do it anyway...
Ya I usually cut the mealworms in half and feed it to the mantids.. One mealworm got mad and fought back I guessYes, the inner body fluids or contents are an added attraction to the mantid which can make a difference if you are feeding mantids that are not interested otherwise in the food being offered,
