I sure you all have noticed this but I still wanted to make a note of it. I think it's pretty interesting how adaptable the praying mantis is when it comes to molting. If you've raised mantids for a long time, I'm sure it wasn't as smooth in the beginning and seen it molt in not ideal circumstances as well as pretty nice situations.

When it comes to molting, I've noticed that the mantis can position itself in many different ways. For example, whether its on a skinny branch or a thick branch, the mantis will hold on to it differently. Also, if the mantis is in a container, chances are it will molt from the top, so there's a different platform, horizontal.

I've come to the conclusion though, at least for Chinese mantids, given their own choice, they like each leg to be widely spaced and actually leaning vertically. I think they know that vertically works better with gravity allowing them to smoothly exit its exoskeleton.

They truly are built to survive and survive they will!
