My chinese Orion has finally molted to adulthood, but some mis-shapings happened along the way. How may I help him prosper and breed without hurting him? Here's the list:

  • Wings are rumpled yet have been dried for six hours. Outer wings are somewhat folded.
  • The once slightly bent leg is now 180 degrees bent from where it should be.
  • The antennae are curled like some drunken butterfly's antennae is off of a kids' show.

Cured:

  • The dent in the eye
  • The dent in the wing buds were RIGHT BETWEEN the two wing buds

Misc:

Orion has a green blob at the base of the wings. I tried touching it with a toothpick, but it stuck to the wing like taffy.

I will see if he is able to hunt after two days  .

There is not much you can do. The wings will stay crumpled. The bend downward antennae will stay that way. The leg my get slightly better? The blood clot at the wing base do not touch. Popping it may make him bleed out, and die! Just give him plenty of perches, and leave him be for the next few days. Then try to feed him. Good luck! :)

Should I cut the wings/ or leg?
No. Why would you? No good could come of it.

Molting issues sometimes happen and once they're an adult, there's nothing you can do. In this case the issues sound like they're mostly cosmetic and shouldn't impact his eating and mating capabilities.

They only reason why you should ever cut the wings, or legs is if it's hindering it's ability to function properly. From what you wrote. It does not sound like this should be a problem.

Its one leg is so malformed that it has been poking up into its wings, and he hasn't walked properly. He has been falling a lot, so his wings have become stuck on the paper towel. I feel like if I increase his mobility by cutting his wings, he might be able to hunt and mate.
