Had a bark mantis fall right as the skin split. I put him on a rougher surface but had to use a tiny bit of hot glue to keep his legs held on. I have my doubts if he can finish the molt but am giving it a try. So far he has not continued.

That's the thing that I fear every time my mantids molt because at a certain point in molting when they are just hanging by their abdomen, it looks like any cage movement will make them slip out and fall. Not only that, I fear that the casted exoskeleton may not be able to support the hanging body. Although none of this has happened to me yet, I know I will witness it in the future. However, I have had cases where some of the limbs won't molt though.

Still has not started to continue the molt but then again I didn't expect him too. These dont' seem to be a very hardy species. Already had a couple drop dead.

thats also with the large species and cages like critter keepers or large tanks when they decide to molt in the middle or away from areas to grasp onto objects then they are more prone to mismolt!

Not going to do it it seems. I rarely have this issue but it sucks when it is something like this.

I was saying the mantis has made no move to finish the molt and I hate it when this happens to an intersting species such as this bark mantis.

oh, well thank you for explaining things to me, I get a little confused sometimes, and I actually viewed a topic and had a question which I answered with google instead of posting! I'm saving myself!
