i notice my L3 african mantis not moving around very much and now hanging upside down on the lid but yesterday he ate. so could this be a sign of a molt coming on or is he just relaxing? also if it could be a sign of molting how fast does it happen, like in 1 day of the 1st signs of molt? should i stop adding fruit flies to the cage? cuz i havnt added any new fruit flies 2day cuz there was a couple left still in the cage and i havnt seen him eat any, but he may have cuz i havnt been looking at him all day of course hehe but u never kno. :p

just leave him be for a day or two.

a couple of hours before he moults you'll see him hanging somewhat loosely from the roof. like his legs will be straight instead of bent at the knees so much.he may spasm from time to time too. hmm...reading over that it does seem quite scary for a first time keeper now that i think about it. lol.

thnx for the reply :) . it was a false alarm i guess cuz i saw him eat a fruit fly hehe :p .

Over time you will get to know the exact time they are about to molt. Fruit flies are not a big deal as they won't disturb a molting mantis.
