I have fourty wild caught caterpillars that cocooned two weeks ago, now they turned dark and you can see thye wing.... How long until they emerge

The time to eclosure varies with temperature, but yours are indoors, so they should be ready to pop around now!

YAY I am excited, I plan on watching my first butterfly emerge... even though I have raised over 50 gulf frittilary, they always emerge when im not there :angry:

My monarchs eclosed in the mornings between 8 and 9am but they were outdoors on my front porch. It seemed that they emerged very soon after the colors started showing through their transparent pupal casing.

Sorry, I don't remember exactly how long, but I would start checking every morning after the pupae turn dark.

yah..... this morning i can see more detail on the wing......
