Hello. What are the most extreme temperatures you guys have shipped mantises? Like last year we had a very cold winter. Have any of your guys shipped mantises during the coldest times across the areas that were cold, such as Minnesota to New York?

Last year during winter some mantises that arrived were so cold they couldn't move but when I blew on them in my hands they would "resurrected." One time I ordered 8 rhombo nymphs and I thought they were dead. i was about to put a pin through the first one but it moved its leg just in time.

What was the temperature outside in your area at the time you found the mantids? Do you know exactly when they were delivered to your house?

I have but I think it should be avoided. If you cannot delay you should use an insulated box, heat pack, and the fastest shipping method available. All of this gets expensive of course.

Temps also really depend on the species too. Some mantids are more tollerable toward the cold like empusa or basically any mantis that has a cold period as part of its natural life cycle. Even with those mantids, i wouldnt drop temps below 40f. Some mantids demand high heat like blepharopsis and shouldnt drop below 60f, i think anything over 100f is probably too hot.

Agreed. The temps many of us are about to get are not ideal shipping weather.
