Here is a pic of maybe 8 hours old Lineola hatchlings.

This is my first succesful ooth hatching and I got over 100 little ones.

They must have hatched early in the morning while I was at work (RATS!!!!!) because

they were dry and had already found a favorite perching spot on the raffia.

Bravo! feels good to get some hatched doesn't it, even if you didn't get to see it, maybe next time.

Good job! Now to decide how to keep as many as you can, alive. They will not eat right away, so you have some time to make a few decisions.

Thanks everyone :)

I gave them 2 days then dumped a bunch of little ff's in there.

They went nuts!!!

When do you guys think it will be time to start seperating them?

I know I will loose some (already squashed one when I put the foam stopper back on), but surly

you dont put each one in it's own nymph cup!!??

Getting them out will be tons of fun!! (not!!!!)

Wait, that would be a lot of cups!!

Next time, I will make the hole for the feeding funnel as far away from the ooth as possible.

They are still attracted to it, and all over the lid. I have to tap it to get the foam stopper out,

then stick the glass funnel in, then proceed to get ff's all over the table!!! (most do make it into

the jar ;)

You do have to be quick, and lots of tapping.

Maybe I will put my thinking cap on and invent some way to do this.

I have this plastic tube, the right size for the hole in the ff lid, and it has a foam plug at one end.

I put about 2cc of apple cider vinagar on the foam plug, and stick the open end of the tube over

the hole in the ff lid, then just carefully turn the whole thing upside down.

Within a minute, I have a lot of ff's in the tube, then I just keep tapping and put a plug over the open end.

Now I have a tube loaded with ff's and a stopper at both ends :)

You mean all in the same container?
No they are separated but with as many l1 s as you have you can probably keep them together till adults. Some do this but it is not recommended I separate more aggressive species at l4.

Nice job! I already have five ooths out of my NE mantids. Four Carolina ooths and one Chinese (Two of the Carolina ooths almost dedinitely fertile, and same for the Chinese). :)

I am going to follow your advise, but I will have to transfer them into something larger. But L4 they may be a bit too big to keep together,

maybe L3!!??

I havent noticed any large drop in their number, and I keep them well fed.

As long as I dont have a problem with canniblism, I will keep them together as long as possible.

I just dont have the space for 100 nymph cups! LOL!!
