Here is my first ootheca.  As someone pointed out in a different post it is labeled incorrectly and Chinese Mantis is not "Praying". However, in the locality in which I live, we have always referred to them as Praying Mantises and they are Chinese Mantises.

I pulled it from refrigeration on 2-29 and it was allowed about 1-month diapause.

It is also just sprayed because the coco fiber was awful dry.  I don't often mist that way.

Congratulations on the new ooth! Nice to have some new nymphs for the new year! (Happy New Year, btw  ) I hope it hatches for you!

also, we call them praying mantises where I live, too. I think people don’t realize how many different species they are, and assume they’re all the same. The reason they’re called “praying” is because of the position of their “arms.” I would imagine people think the term applies to all species because of this.
