I joined the mantis hobby a little over 2 years ago (December 16, 2016 is when I joined the forum). I started out with a ghost mantis and two little african mantids, which have since molted to adult and passed away.

I had T. sinensis next, and my mantid collection exploded. I had budwings, r. basilis, p medioconstructa, b mendica, giant asian, h coranatus, gongys, p wahlbergi, c pictopennis, brunner's, and cat mantises, cryptid mantises, there might be more that I've forgotten!

I've had eighty nymphs at one time eating fruit flies (I hand fed every single one  ), I've had females lay ooths, I've raised feeders and gotten over my fear of crickets, I've bought unfiltered organic honey. Mantises were my "gateway" into other creatures as well.

I downsized my collection and was only keeping p medioconstructa, b mendica, and gongys. I had empty net cages and unused lids, tweezers, branches, and tons of empty nymph cups. That is, until today. Since I was keeping gongys and b mendica, I decided that it was finally time for me to get.... IDOLOMANTIS DIABOLICA!

I got my two nymphs from DeShawn. I was so enamored when I saw them that I decided to start a thread about them. I find that those who keep mantids find extreme amounts of joy and even relief from their pets. I find that I am one of those people, and I'd just like to share my joy of getting such an amazing species. I feel like mantids have impacted my life in such a positive way, and I'm so glad that I chose to buy my first little mantid, Molly, who will forever remain in my heart.

Here are the little guys! :)   Sorry for the sappy and long introduction!

I absolutely love idolos! Yours are so dangerous cute. I should be getting a ooth or two here soon of them and I can’t wait!

@FluffyMantid Thank you so much! :)  They are so cute they should be illegal

@Connor Thanks! And that sounds so exciting, I hope you document your adventures! They're so pretty even in younger instars

@Mystymantis Thank you! It has been a bit of a wild ride for me and my mantids :D

Congrats on the new nymphs and good luck with them!  It's great to hear how you started out and how many species you have tried since then.

An Update: One of the little guys has molted for the first time with me! Of course, I had to take some photos :)

I know the second one's a little washed out, but it's the best "face" photo I've gotten of either of them! These photos are better quality, as you can see :D  taken with something that isn't a phone camera!

What an adorable little guy! Glad to know (s)he molted just fine. (S)he’s beautiful!  :)

Also, if you were interested in getting better phone shots, I think I saw a couple threads here about cheap macro lenses in the photography section. I’ll have to dig them up, though.

Anyway, I hope h(is/er) sibling molts soon!

Thank you! :)  I'll be sure to check those posts out! This little mantis is going to get a nice juicy fly now!  :chef:
