Here are some pictures of my fresh adult female Idolo. She's 11 cm now and starting to slowly get her color. The entire molt was picture perfect, didn't take as long as I thought it would either. I have to thank Yen for such a beautiful mantis!

Molting at midnight; I didn't want to disturb her to get a better shot so this is it:

~12 hours after molt, still milky:

~36 hours after molt, getting some hints of color:

Awesome! She's a beauty, and already flashing threats at you! Wish I could get some pics of that. Mine are too mellow.

Congratulations! She's a beauty! I have to ask you what your temps and humidity levels were at? I've asked others but I tink it's always good to know what other people are doing to sucessfully have their idolos go through the final molt. Also can you pull back to get a shot of your set-up. Thanks :)

@ Precarious: She loves climbing on my hands, but it took another mantis to get the threat-it was directed at the female violin next to her on the bark.

@ animalexplorer: The temp was around 75 that night, and I had the fogger on the whole night so prob 90% humidity. I'm not sure if the humidity was necessary, but I didn't think it would hurt.

Very nice! I'm glad you got her to adult, did you say you had two girls?

She looks like shes about to nab that gongy gal.

Yeah I had two females, this one munched her sister a day after the victim molted into subadulthood. I've never heard of this really happening so I assumed they'd be ok together.

I'd be more cautious with the violin but the Idolo isn't up to eating yet, she hasn't gone after any flies. Its always cool seeing a large species get dwarfed!
