I have always been scared to death of spiders... still am. But for some reason a little jumping spider is one of the cutest things! I was cleaning off my boat when I came across this tiny little guy. I knew I had to give a shot at taking care of one of these guys even though they are so tiny! I believe this guy is a bold jumping spider(Phidippus audax). If anyone has experience with these guys please help me out! I am just going to keep him in a water bottle for the time being(with air holes). I am going to have to try and find some tiny little insects for this guy(maybe some melos?). Should I give him/her a misting? I'm just going to keep it at room temp unless someone says otherwise. I was thinking just a little stick of leaf as something for it to hide on? Thanks for any help you got.

I totally agree with you about Jumping Spiders being adorable! Finally, I'm not the only one! I have quite a few Bold Jumpers and some kind of orange species free in my room. They help me take care of pesky Carpet Beetles and Scuttle Flies which bother Hookfang, my pet tarantula. I think you should mist it so that it can drink if it needs to, I know tarantulas do. Also, Melanogaster's would be fine for a spider that size. They will get bigger though so you might be able to move it up to Hydei's. A leaf or some other hideout would be great so that it can make a retreat out of silk. I see plenty at my school, and they always have a retreat, usually the larger females. Room temperature is also fine.

@Cloud the Dinosaur KingThanks for the help! You got free roamers of these! I think they're cute... but not that cute lol. A few questions... How long do these guys live for? Do they molt? And since it's the end of the summer going into fall is this guy an adult/full grown? He's pretty tiny...

Jealous! I convinced my family that jumpers aren't too scary but no one has any ready to sell where I live  <_<
