Here's some pics of the S. floridensis resin casting I won from Yen's "Guessing Ootheca Weight" contest.

I'm about to begin doing this myself. Seems a good way to preserve the colors. I'll have to post the results once I actually do it.

Yeah, I want to know how to do it too. Especially since Idolos and lots of other colorful species lose their color after death, and who'd want to say goodbye to those awesome colors? Seems like a great way to keep the colors, and just a fun thing to do. :)

a tutorial would be nice *hint* *hint*
Here's a link:

Resin Casting

Once you've clicked this link, don't click the arachnoboard link as the forum is "invalid". Just click the YouTube link. It's a REALLY good instructional video on resin casting items. Also make sure you read the list of stuff to do with the dead mantis before casting.

Glad you like it Chris and good to see the casting reached you in one piece :D

I don't have the skill nor the knowledge to encase the mantis, sorry Malti :( I will try to ask the person who did this to post a step by step tutorial if he agrees. Here are some other he made for me B)

i see some have odontomantis species in them, very nice hindwings on those odontomantis, they look just like the ones you sent me, it's hard to believe those dazzlers are under the wings of such a tiny species :)
