Hey everyone!

Here are some pics of my Stags!

It's pretty rewarding watching them go through their life cycle--even if it can be kind of slow. I try to look at it as being that the longer they take to mature, the longer I get to keep them.
I try not to keep too many of them--it gets difficult finding enough wood and making enough substrate for them to breed in when living in a relatively dry area with no large stands of old trees.

I still have one remaining larvae of Hercules hercules in his last stage before pupating. Nice looking Lucanus sp.!

want some in june/july?
Do you find any other Lucanus and other stagbeetle genera? Such as Lucanus placidus? :D http://bugguide.net/node/view/4180/bgimage?from=48

Dorcus brevis. I failed to keep them. One female laid eggs in a few oak wood with the white fungus but the white fungus died and the larvae died. Next summer I will keep them in ventilated container outside.

I find curecus piceus larvae in logs a lot

Found another yesterday in pine wood. They are probably Lucanus elaphus because a friend says that L. elaphus might be the only USA Lucanus that lives in pine wood.
