I got this beautiful species in a trade from Mike, aka (Hypoponera). Thank you Mike! It hatched yesterday and it looks like 100 plus nymphs hatched out. But, over night about 50 died off, this is normal and I expected for such a die off. I look forward to working with this species. :)

I'm guessing these are wild caught, as all of this species ootheca seem to be at the moment. I had the same when hatching out Tenodera AS wildcaught ootheca, a LOT of them would die. I don't know if this was due to overcrowding, or just different conditions in captivity.

However, in my experience, what's happening to you semms fairly "normal". I've got some of these ootheca at the mo, I'l let you know what happens when I hatch them on.

Wow! Your ooth produced far more then mine did. I sent you the larger one as I knew I would run into space limitations. Even down to 50 is still a very sizeable number to work with. These guys grow about as fast as Chinese! So keep them warm and feed them heavily to promote good growth rates.

Ian,

Yes I believe it is wild collected. This might be why so many died overnight? It could just be that they were to overcrowded?

Please let us know how yours do for you, it will be very interesting to hear what happens. But, now I can handle whats left and get a chance at trying to get them to adulthood and breed them.

Thanks again

Mikhail

Thank you Mike, I will take that in mind. It looks like a very nice species indeed. I cannot wait to breed them and look forward to watching them grow. :)

Thanks again

Tenedora tend to have massive die offs.
