It is a type of mantis that looks like a chinese mantis

Well if it is orange guess what I found yesterday? I moved a couple hours south a few months ago. At work yesterday I found a male on the side of the building. I thought he looked slightly different and he had orange between the front legs. I couldn't remember what color these had. There are large lights on the side of the building and there are always mantids up high in the morning.

Hey Rick,

Where did you find him at? I have been trying to flesh out a reasonable range for this species. The old range data has "New York to Virginia". I have had "confirmed" sightings from NJ, MD, DE, NY, and eastern PA.

Eastern North Carolina. I went back today and looked again and there was another one but he flew into some trees. I didn't keep the first one. I will be trying to catch a few of them. Since we have tons of chinese as well I wonder if these interbreed?
