Just went to pick up my new L5 Hierodula Majuscula and she just went limp in my hands. She's been due to molt for a while now and I realized exactly what was happening! Thank GOD I checked on her because she was hanging off the side of her enclosure!! And I know that usually spells disaster for mantises and they end up with deformities. Luckily I was able to coax my limp baby back onto the top mesh and gently place it back on the top of the cage. She's molting as I speak and has a little hump-back as she's emerging from her old skin and her face is pulling away. Never seen a mantis begin molting. I've caught my P. Paradoxa midmolt when she was an L3 and just after she molted into L7 and also seen my H. Venosa just before and after molting but I've never seen the whole process like this before. I'm so glad I decided to try and take her out since she literally started molting after I fastened her back to the top of her enclosure.. Jeez.. silly girl..
