Need help aging my giant indian

he has shed twice in the two months iv had him

if it helps, allthough its not clear he has started growing small wings

and his back is slightly curled so he is just under 3 inches

any ideas how old/how many sheds/what instar etc he is?

I'm a bit confused. You say that he does have wing buds? And that he has only molted twice in 2 months? It's unusual for a mantis to grow that slowly.

 
a clearer photo of the wing buds would help but i reckon it looks subadult.

they are about 1/3rd the size of his back section

quite visible as little wings

does sub sub adult mean a couple more sheds and he is fully grown??

p.s do all giant indians reach 6-8 inches long?

sub sub adult means that he has 2 more sheds to adulthood. Giant Indians only get up to 4-5 inches, and even that is stretching it a bit.

 
Sub adult i reckon, if they are over lapping a it then yeah, or slightly touching then that would be pre sub adult
