need houseflys

dear forum members. please help me.

I killed all my housflys the day the site went down.

and my gosts wont eat anything else and forum is down, plus my suplyer of flys has not replyed to my emails for 6 days. no idea why. oh, and gettting fired today for doing my job last night and saving my boss for an unsafe work invironment as well as a health code violation sucks too...this is not a joke.

I'm having a bad week .

please help!!!!!!

I need them overnighted ASAP.

sorry to hear all your bad news. but I'm waiting myself for a shipment of flies. you can use small crickets till you get some flies,many places sell them like Petsmart, Passpets,Petco and many more. I know its not Ideal food but in a pinch you can wave them in front of your mantis to simulate flying feeders if there hungry they will eat them! and there cheap. and it will save you mantis, wish you the best of luck.

Yup! Crickets for now, and order flies from Rebecca at mantisplace.com.

Ghost can go wuite a while without food, and WILL hit the crickets if hungry enough. Remember, you'll need a few days between arrival and eclosing of your flies, so be prepared.

guys, I'm new but I don't buy anything untill I research it fully. including tips on feeders to use instead.

guys, I tryed everything. I got at least 6 or 7 feeders in my house in all sizes including the size of houseflys. tryed by hand feeding (long tweezers, did everything inc the shake it like it's flying.) tryed free range in the tubs. I do my homework. but keep giving me tips if you can think of any....I've even tryed honey.

they are eating hydeis though the past few days...will this be ok?

just turned L3 about a day or two before I killed my flys by mistake. so they each ate at least one if not two or three houseflys each since they molted last. it should be still way to early for them to molt to L4.

they do eat hydeis and always have them in their tub as well...is that enough?

sorry if I'm sounding paranoid. if the forum would have been up I would have had some answers already...I could use some email addys in case of something crazy happens (like the forum goes down.) (*wink, wink)

If they're eating the hydeis...why worry that they don't have houseflies? I haven't even begun to offer my L3 Ghosts houseflies yet! They'll be fine until you get some houseflies going, I'm sure. And if they're not eating the hydeis, then they're just not hungry!

As mentioned above, D. hydei fruit flies will do just fine for now. You could also order house flies from spiderpharm.com. His prices are cheap, and his flies are top notch! Mantisplace is also another great place to buy house flies.
