Need id - found in garden

Hi Guys, found this girl (I think it's a girl - I think that's six abdominal segments) in the garden.

Is it a large Carolina, or a small Chinese mantis (or something else)?

Also, this late in the season, what are the chances that she'll ooth for me?

OH she's a fatty Chinese. Sure she will be laying ooths any time now. Feed her well and in a few days from the looks of her she will give you an ooth, then a couple more weeks another one. Good luck!

Thanks for the confirmation. I thought so, but I also thought that female Chinese were larger - around 4.5 to 5 inches.

I guess I just have a little girl.

I'll have to check the yard once the leaves are down in the winter, too, to see if she maybe already did her business somewhere.

Yep thats what she is. It is obviously a female. Once you get experienced you won't need to count segments on adults to tell gender. She is average size. They don't get as big as some think.
