Hey there everybody. Glad to have found this place. I tend to talk and think about mantids a lot of the time and my family is getting sick of it so I figured I'd get some of those thoughts out on this site.
Well, my name is Alex and I'm 20 years old. I received my first mantids just before my 20th birthday (May 19th 2012). I purchased them through 'livemantis.com' where the shipper labeled them as 'US Native Color Changing Praying Mantis'. Though in all reality, they were born and raised in California, and are therefore considered to be the Stagmomantid Limbata. One of my mantids died due to a trouble with molting, but my other one has made it to adult hood and is doing really well (she is 7 months old this September). She has not yet laid her ootheca so that's a good sign that she will probably live a while.
My mantid's name is Majesty. She is 7 months old, Stagmomantid Limbata, 3 inches, and L stage 6 of 6, meaning she's completed her molting.
This month I purchased an ootheca and will be selling them within the next three months (September, October, November, possibly December). They will be hatching in September and I will let them molt three times before selling them so increase their chance of survival.
The L 3 stage nymphs will be Mantid Religiosa, which is a larger genus of mantid, about 3+ inches.
If you want one, they will be $15 for two, which I would recommend (in case one dies). Just contact me here if you want one (you will get the link to the eBay account): [email protected]
I will be selling them on eBay once they reach stage L 3, so keep a look out. Here's the eBay website: http://myworld.ebay.com/mantidbro
