these are images of a new species in the hobbi in Mexico, gender seems Stagmomantis but short wings of the female does not correspond to the known species of this genus. We called mantis Metlac funeral for black color of the second pair of wings of the male. regards

Those are very short wings on the male. It doesn't look like it, but do you know if the male is still capable of flying?

Hello, very short wings only appear in the female, the male is able to fly, although not a good flyer as the males of other species

I received a mystery mantis from a friend who found them in the Southwest U.S. Unfortunately only one survived and it is a male that looks much like this one with the short wings. I'll get a pic up later of him. We figured they were Stagmomantis and when the male molted I thought his wings were just messed up.

hopefully you have a picture, this comes from the south central mexico. It seems that in Mexico there are numerous species of the genus Stagmomantis yet undescribed. Some time ago there was another call in the hobby lemon mantis

we reproduce some a couple of generations but then disappeared, never knew where I come

This may not be the same species. My male here has dark bands on the dorsum of the abdomen but he does have the short wings.

Nice, it's like a S. californica except for the short wings.
That's what I was thinking. I had a female but she didn't make it to adult. The guy that sent me these is looking for more.

Got any I. oratoria?

Yes. I can send you one if you need it for the Bugfest. Mines are at subadult right now and so hopefully they'll be adults by the time of your event.
