Just ordered 8 nymphs, p. paradoxa.  I've never kept them before and would LOVE tips!  I want them in colony in a terrarium and have kept chorophaea this way.  Anything special I should know?  Do I keep them together from the start?  I've read care sheets but would enjoy some anecdotal info!

I keep mine together and they do fine, not saying they wont eat the neighbor, as while putting in new homes yesterday and I took

to long someone was half eaten when I moved them and the proof was in his lips! They require no special care, love to drink

water whenever u give them it.

I am on my 4th generation of ghost and they continue to be one of my favorite species to keep. I also keep all of mine housed together. I do find that they prefer flying prey but will take other insects as well.

Thanks for your help!  I'm so looking forward to them.  I really miss keeping chlorophaea in colony; those guys are so much fun!  Where the heck are they anyway?  When I was here years ago, they were all the rage!

Ghosts are great and one of my favorites still. Have you gotten yours yet?

Ah, the Texas unicorn mantid is one that comes and goes in the hobby. I haven't seen them in the classifieds except once in the last few years. There was some talk awhile back about someone trying to get some to start a new breeder stock of them, but it seems at the moment few if any members here have any. The problem with collecting them from the wild is you have to go close to the the Texas/Mexican border to get them, and then have to get permission as they are in the state parks. Hopefully some will turn up in the classifieds late this year.

I so miss the unicorns!  I haven't gotten the ghosts yet, I thought I'd ordered them, but alas I confused my many supply orders.  I will get some soon, can't wait!  Constructed enclosures that I think will work well for them.  Thanks so much for the information!

Alright makes sense, sounds like you have too many things you want to order like the rest of us. :D Your welcome for any help.

I also tracked down the recent thread on the Texas Unicorns (Phyllovates chlorophaea), they are in the Brownsville area and here is the thread with plenty of details. If I ever make it back to Texas besides a layover at the airport, I'd have to make a trip down there to see if I could find any myself. ;)

Thanks so much!  I never dreamed p. chlorophaea would be so scarce as we had them in spades (back in the day).  So nice to keep in colony.  I am going to buy ghosts soon and will hit you up for tips!  Cheers!
