Hello everyone, I recently got into the wonderful world of mantis keeping, and I am happy to have found an entire forum for this hobby. So amazing! I currently have one pet mantis, but I am not sure what species it is can anyone help me figure it out? Thank you

I think that is a hierdodula membranacea

I found it in my backyard. I was thinking it might be one of three species, stagmomantis limbata, stagmomantis carolina, or as @Little Mantis said, a hierodula membranacea. This little guy I found was missing a leg but he's doing great! I've seen a few mantids in my backyard before, some with blue around their mouth and others not, so maybe there is a multitude of species. Mine does not have any blue around his mouth, but does have some brown rings where his abdomen meets his thorax. I live in SoCal

Hierodula aren't found in the Americas, unless it was set free or escaped from someone's collection.

Patellifera is found on the Hawaiian Islands, but we can't really call that 'The Americas'.

A location would help, and several VERY CLEAR. well illuminated photos from different angles would REALLY help!
