Hmm.. My 2nd gen Oxy seem to be doing fine .. got my from ChisP not sure if is the same blood line .. will send you some soon got 4 adult male 2 adult female so far .. not sure about ur P.W .. but all i know is i want some lol ...

So I bred about a dozen oxy g's and 5 wahbergii and all are laying ooths, not a one has hatched, so bloodlines have runout?
Rebecca, my wahlbergii ooths are hatching. The first couple of ooths from one female did not hatch for some reason, but the third one did, and I did not re-mate her. The ones that didn't hatch were really long. I have two other fertile females. Anyway, I also acquired some new stock. If your wahlbergii ooths don't end up hatching, I can do a trade with you in the future so that you don't lose the species.

ok, I have a dozen ooths and none have hatched, really dissapointed in the species, all were mated more than once too. silentdevil, yours did not hatch either, sorry to say.... also Tammy I think these were the babies I got from you, so yours are working on the one mantis? well one is better than none.

Is there anything in the literature about bloodlines running out? Hibiscusmile is the only one I've heard say anything about it.

I currently have three fertile females....

I had seven females molt to adults in May/June. I gave away three to a friend because I didn't want to end up with an overwhelming number of nymphs again. I had attempted to mate one of those females and never witnessed a connection. I was surprised when her first ooth hatched. Later I was surprised to find a second ooth that hatched that I didn't know existed until I found a bunch of wahlbergii babies in with an Orchid.

I kept three females for myself and mated them each one time. All three of them have produced fertile ooths. The first two ooths from one of the females did not hatch, but the rest of her ooths have hatched. The first ooths from the other two females recently hatched.

I have another female that molted to an adult three weeks ago. I'm waiting for this female to start calling so that I can mate her.

I also got 10 nymphs from Yen.

@rebecca- u shoulda taken my offer for the unrelated male (the deal was i send him to u and u send a few ooths of his back lol) i offered u before sendin it to tammy

@tammy- did the male mate with any females yet? i would like an ooth that he fathered since he was the greeniest nymph i had...

Alex, it sounds like Rebecca mated some nymphs she got from me. So, they may have been related. I thought she had some stock she got from someone in Europe, too.I did not re-mate any of my three females as they have all produced fertile ooths. I am going to use your male to mate with my female. I tried again today, but no luck.

Rebecca, I don't think your breeding stock came from me. Perhaps you are thinking of the blepharopsis mendica you got from me in the fall. I checked my order spreadsheet and the emails we exchanged. You mentioned in May that yours were going to be adults soon. I shipped my first wahlbergii nymphs (probably L2s) to you in May and again in June. If you kept any of those nymphs, I think that they would just be maturing now. I'll forward you the emails.

huh! who knows, I thought they were from you, maybe they are from overseas! That would explain why yours are hatching! agent A, u did try to send it by someone, we won't mention but did not happen, the girls are still young and going strong, maybe I will find another hubby for them! They are all widows now!
