My old Chinese female has started laying ooths, but she's never been mated. ? She laid one last night and somehow got the foam on her foot... so she's walking around with a hardened piece of ooth as a shoe. I was afraid to try to remove her from the ooth, so I just snipped a tiny piece off so she could free herself.

Few quick questions:

1. Do I just treat her as usual and let her continue to lay?

2. She has been too aggressive to mate, but she has since calmed down. Is it too late to mate her now?

3. Does this mean she will be entering end of life soon? She's about 5 months old.

4. Any tips on removing a bit of dried ooth from a foot?

Dang... I was really hoping to mate her, but I didn't have any males. She was so aggressive a couple of weeks ago that any mating attempt would have just turned into a feeding session anyway. She's back to her normal calm self now.

Thanks! ☺️

Yeah treat her same. You can mate after she's laid her first ooth, and after then she should lay a few more fertile ooths. Adults often live quite a while and lay several ooths I doubt she'll be at her end for sometime if you keep her unless you are putting her outside. As for the boot, I'd do what you did, and I wouldnt risk hurting her getting the rest off. Can she still get around well, no problems walking?

Treat her like you normal do. Let her lay her ooths. maybe you can still mate her for 1 fertile one offspring of your old girl.

That's great news to me! I plan on keeping her around as long as possible.

I took her out and gave her a couple of treats to keep her busy. I put several large droplets of water on the stuck on bit. By the time she finished a couple of snacks, it came off easily. ?

If I could find a couple of disposable adult males, I would give it a shot! ? My original plan was to use her as my first breeding experiment, but was never able to get a suitable mate.

@Synapze I hope you can find a suitable male for her! I am glad you got the foam off of her foot.

Its okay. I'm not too worried about it. She was mated then an ooth then I tried to mate again, no go and another ooths should be here next week I hope!
