Hello. I actually registered 9 months ago but never introduced myself. I noticed that the classified rules state that "you must introduce yourself in the Introduce Yourself forum before placing an ad."

I live in Minnesota and first became interested in mantis when I found a site which had Igor Siwanowicz' macro images...many of them were mantis. (If you are interested in macro photography and haven't checked out his images, you should google him.) When I was in Texas last October, I found some praying mantis on the home we rented and photographed them. I found this site when I was googling to see what kind they were. Since then, my interest grew into a passion, and I have bought mantis from seven members so far, and have become friends with a couple of you. My current collection contains 44 mantis (10 different species). Besides mantis, I've been raising Actias Luna and Cecropia for the past 3 - 4 years. Other critters in my home are 3 house rabbits, 1 box turtle who has lived with me for 20 years, 2 baby painted turtles, and 2 red eyed tree frogs.

My plan was to spend a lot of time photographing my mantis, but that hasn't happened. I'm not working at the moment and traveled and photographed in 8 different states in 8 months. But I have made more of an effort the past three weeks and have shared some of my favorite photos with you. Here's a link to my praying mantis gallery. (Newest images are first.)

I was sure that you wrote an introduction when you joined, but if so, it is interesting enough to bear repeating. So you found pix by Igor Siwanowicz on some mantis place or other! I'll have to check that out! Meantime, you are obviously a talented photographer; keep those photos coming!

@ Hibiscusmile: Looks good enough to me, though some of us might use "grammar" as an alternative to "grammer". :p

Phil, when I posted photos for the first time, I mentioned the part about Texas and how I found this site. That's probably what you remember. It seemed kind of silly to post an introduction after this long.... Tammy

Greetings Tammy, from another Saturnid lover!

I loved your photos in the other threads, nice to finally meet you! :D
