Last thing I would use. You would have to make holes in each compartment to add food and mist. If you need to open it you risk all the mantids crawling out and believe me, they will. Just get the standard 32 oz insect cups. Can't beat those.

Thanks for being honest. Would you use the 32 oz. cup right away or smaller ones? And would you put something for them to crawl on?

That is way too big and probably going to be a hassle for feeding. For newborn nymphs to I use clear plastic 10 oz cups. I cut out a hole and stuff the hole with cotton. Inside I put excelsior for the flies to crawl in, you can use pretty much anything found in your back yard; leaves, twigs etc... For the top I use 2 layers of cheesecloth. As they get bigger I will use 32 oz cups. And when they are even bigger I'll have to buy some of those pet cages at walmart. The important thing is that the cage is small enough for them to have easy access to thir prey and large enough for them to molt. Hope I helped.

Every bit helps. Can anyone tell me how long a molt takes? Also do they always have to be hanging to molt and what do you do if they fall?
