ok, my L5 female nymph, Bella, molted this morning an hour or two before i woke up. About twelve hours later i tried to feed her(giving her time to recuperate) and shy denied food even when i put it in her mouth. Even before molting, she was mostly reluctant to eat then aswell. She has appeared weaker, as she occasionally looses her grip as she climbs the cage walls. Any ways i can entice her to eat, or is she sick :( ?

When my ghosts don't eat (I've also done this with a scorpling) I cut the head off of a cricket or cut a meal worm in half to get the juices flowing and stick the juicy part right up to their mouth using a pair of tweezers. My ghosts immediately start eating it, and a few seconds later they latch on with their arms.

If she's ignoring it and trying to run away from the tweezers try sticking it close to her antennae so she can get a quick smell of it (she'll prob stop running and pause to smell it) and then slowly move it towards her mouth. Works like a charm with my ghosts when I want to make sure they eat (since I'm not around enough to ensure they all get an equal share of crickets).

Good luck

They will eat when ready. Unlike us humans, animals as well, they will eat when hungry. Humans will eat for the shear joy of eating. (ever been to Hometown Buffet?). Bunch of pigs, if you ask me. I wish there was a scale at the pearly gates.

Leave her be. Give her another day. She is just clearly not ready to feed yet. Sometimes it takes longer than just a day to recuperate from a molt.

Yes it will eat when ready. But you should avoid to give her food right after molting(unless you see your mantis craving for food) as it may be the cause of some health issues.Wait 1 or 2 days.

They need some time to regain strenght after molting.Dont disturb it. :)

Wait at least 24 hrs after molting.

was able to get her to eat a little bit after trying cutting the head off the cricket. but it took her a while to latch onto it
