I know a lot of people aren't really smart in the area of inscets, but this just took the cake.

(story time kids!)

I took my european to school and she stayed in my Chem teacher's room for the whole day. Well I asked a frined of mine to pick up the mantis cause I had to get to my locker and time so I wouldn't miss my bus. Anyway my friend waited outside to give my mantid back to me and then we went our separate ways.

Five minutes later I get a call from the friend. She was on her bus and some girl as her was she was holding, now this is the atcual conversation between them:

"What were you holding before?"

"It was a european mantis."

"What's that?"

"You know, a praying mantis?"

"No..."

"It's an insect."

"OH! You mean a lizard?"

"................"

I wish I was there when it happened. But man! How do you mistake a lizard for a mantis? See this is basically why I'm bringing my mantids to school, so a crazy thought like this doesn't happen again.

It still gave me a good laugh.

sounds like a dangerous place for an insect, well so long as noone tries to kill it with the knowledge that it is someones animal.... i've noticed many people call bees wasps and flies ''bees''...that just adds a little to the ignorance pile...

Yes very all girl schools are close to heck for bugs. I swear the girls see a bug and they scream and try to step on it. :(

Yeah it's so sad, I have people thinking the mantids are spiders, or excint.

   Killing a lizard is kinda messy, right?
YES, omg it's horrible too.

You are doing a great job Andrea in letting people know what a praying mantis really is!!
Thank you. I just think it's sad that no one knows what a mantis is. :(

Yea 2 THUMBS up, you go girl! :p
Thank you very much. :D

Very nice! B)
Yep, the sad thing is I told that girl what a mantis was a couple days beforehand.

This begs the question; what ARE people learning in school...?
 I have to ask that question sometimes too and I'm still in school.
