I know a lot of people aren't really smart in the area of inscets, but this just took the cake.
(story time kids!)
I took my european to school and she stayed in my Chem teacher's room for the whole day. Well I asked a frined of mine to pick up the mantis cause I had to get to my locker and time so I wouldn't miss my bus. Anyway my friend waited outside to give my mantid back to me and then we went our separate ways.
Five minutes later I get a call from the friend. She was on her bus and some girl as her was she was holding, now this is the atcual conversation between them:
"What were you holding before?"
"It was a european mantis."
"What's that?"
"You know, a praying mantis?"
"No..."
"It's an insect."
"OH! You mean a lizard?"
"................"
I wish I was there when it happened. But man! How do you mistake a lizard for a mantis? See this is basically why I'm bringing my mantids to school, so a crazy thought like this doesn't happen again.
It still gave me a good laugh.
